Dan Flanegan (’94)

As an entrepreneur, advisor and investor, Dan Flanegan has a passion for how humans interact with technology products.

Dan Flanegan has built and managed diverse teams ranging from developers, designers and entrepreneurs to brand managers and creative agencies, all with a vision to leverage technology in a way that is natural to and enhances the human experience.

Dan is the co-founder and CEO of Butter, a mobile app for making new friends anywhere on earth! He also co-founded San Diego-based SHEnetics, a cloud-based voice platform that creates a personalized, easy to use way for people to interact with technology, simply with their voice. He also advises numerous companies in categories as diverse as digital health, augmented reality, travel, cannabis and cryptocurrencies.

Dan is also the former Founder and Managing Partner of Brand Anywhere, a mobile agency that managed the campaign strategy and execution for global brands including McDonalds, Comcast, Qualcomm, Meguiar's, CoverGirl, Tampax and Herbal Essences.

Prior to Brand Anywhere, Dan was the CEO of Soapbox Mobile, a mobile marketing platform that powered the mobile campaigns of numerous brands including Levis, Guinness, P&G, W Hotels, General Motors and many others. Soapbox was acquired in 2007.

Dan earned his Political Science BA in 1994 and quickly found himself working for the California Governor’s office as a liaison to local entrepreneurs. This engagement with California businesses helped spark his entrepreneurial spirit and professional journey in Silicon Valley during the first internet boom and bust.
